I did 3500km on XRS so far.

I did alot of highway with the car and i tested different speed to see the fuel economy of my car...
Here are the numbers (on the cruise control , 100% highway with no A/C)

@ 100km/h (62mi/h) i got 6.1liter avg = 38.42mpg US or 46.13mpg Can

@ 118km/h (74mi/h) i got 7.3liter avg = 32.12mpg US or 38.5mpg Can

I've been getting consistent 6.9-7.1L/100km on the highway (110-120km/h), and about 9.5L/100km in the city. Not trying to drive it easy at all, just normal driving, which is probably a bit less fuel efficient than what most people drive like.

Is this by hand calculation or is it the cars computer?

Car computer. I did a 500km run last week and i looked at my computer AVG and I calculated the result by hand too. The computer is very accurate! The difference was 0.1 or 0.2liter/100km.

I'm getting 23 mpg for city driving, which plain sucks. On the plus side, I get that number even if I smoke my tires at every single stoplight. I guess that's where the official numbers come from.

update: i was complaining about getting about 28 MPG. with almost 5,000 miles now, I avg from 29 to 31 MPG on my 5-speed XRS, with that mostly highway and lately, using the a/c.

First tank, 8.3 l/100 km = 28.34 MPG according to trip computer, but I am not sure how accurate it is. Also, there was 5 liters of gas left in the tank about 10 kms after my "range" dropped to 0kms. Only did 510 kms but I am thinking this varying the engine speed for the first 1000 miles is also making the calculation not very accurate, it is not the way I usually drive the car--mostly I drive at constant or near constant speeds, with or without the cruise control.

I am averaging between 23 and 26 mpg in my XRS, should get better as I move away from the break-in period I assume.
