With all these electronics I cringe at the idea of anything aftermarket, we had an ECU fail on our Camry, just out of warranty, the dealer blamed the aftermarket alarm system, think I'll keep our new Corolla all Toyota.

Hello there, I purchased my Corolla S from Queensboro Toyota in March and had Factory installed remote start and alarm system. Its all integrated with the original key for the car. I have to say it works great. I have had afternarket stuff before in other cars and have to say that the remotes never last and they always caused problems in a couple of years. The factory stuff is basically integrated into the car as if it was there since day 1. Very clean install as far as moduls and wiring. I was glad to pay the $900 bucks or so that it cost because anything happens I can always go to the dealer because they installed it. Dealers always use electrical aftermarket installes for making excuses.

Have the remote start options gotten any better in the last few months? I bought an '09 Corolla S recently and would like a remote start, but I don't trust the aftermarket ones. I'd rather have something made for my car installed by my dealership so if anything goes wrong with it I don't get screwed over. Range is not a huge deal for me, but is it any better than 50 feet like some people say it is? General complaints of anyone else who has one?

No 3rd party

After reading all these entries in this thread, it looks like the 2009 Corollas can only use certain brands or types of remote starters (therefore not all 3rd party brands will work).
I am looking at installing a Pro Start remote starter which is on-sale at Canadian Tire here-->

Any tips if this will work on 2009 Corolla's keyless entry system?

Thanks a lot.
