Left the Dome light on Why Isn't Battery Dead

Took my teen to the midnight book sale Friday for Stephanie Meyers new book - she "had" to read it on the way home and had the dome light on. It was left on and I did not notice it til Monday - after work. Saw the reflection in my rear view mirror. I can't believe I left it on and I can't believe that I didn't notice ot driving the couple short trips I took over the weekend. The car started fine every time. The light was HOT to touch and it was in the ON position. Does this mean that my bettery will last only two more weeks ? Does the Corolla LE have a sensor or switch that even in ON it shuts off after a while if the light is left on "ON". Does anyone know?

eh your battery is fine...it'll be recharged after driving the car. i don't really think the dome light takes that much power...it's a tiny bulb. i've left my dome light on a couple times and didn't drain my batteries. actually i didn't leave it on on purpose, the passenger side door wasn't completely closed and the light stayed on throughout the night lol oh and don't think there's any sensor for the dome light to shut off if it's turned on manually.

The current draw from a dome light is very small so it doesn't have the same affect as, say, your headlights do. The battery itself is in a constant state of being discharged and is recharged whenever the vehicle is running, so a small dome light will not cause the battery to sulfate especially since you took several drives during the weekend.

What they said.^ The corolla does not have a accesory monitor to turn the power off automatically. Typically you only find that on higher end cars. Once the battery reaches a certain voltage without the car running the body control module turns off the accesories.
