Quick question about the gas tank

I purchased a 2009 Corolla S with the Sports Package, JBL, and moonroof. I filled up my car for the second time. The first time, I didnt drive until the tank was on empty. But, for the second fill up, I went all the way down past where the range = 0, maybe 15-20 miles past. I was informed by my dealer that there is a 2 gallon reserve tank. Is that included in the 13.2 gallon size of the gas tank. or is that in addition. How does that work. When I filled up the car, i put 11.8 gallons in the car, and it was on E, so was the other 1.4 gallons a part of the reserve

thanks for the info. Also, for those look to buy the Corolla, i love my S, i drove 2 Fords before this, and I now look forward to driving to work, gym, etc. I look for reasons to drive it. It has been the best experience thus far. I have been getting about 35 miles per gallon and I havent even broken in it yet. I hope that the mpg continues and I look forward to several years with this vehicle.

Thanks if anyone has any further information on the gas tank
