Car Battery?

I heard so many complaints about the battery. I see that the crank voltage is so low. I'm using it for my upgrade alpine and 2 amps, one running 4 speakers, and one running a sub. I know when i turn off the radio, my car speed picks, and gas mph went up. Then what should i up grade too.

That makes no sense. Once your car is started, It runs off the alternator and battery combined. The alternator puts out the necessary voltage and charges the battery when there is excess. The battery will suppliment power when the alternator can't deliver enough voltage or amperage such as when RPM's are extrememly low like when idling and all your accesories are running like AC, headlights, fan on high, etc.

Besides, how would you know gas mileage goes up? If going by the instantaneous MPG gauge, that's really not a good guide..... and car picks up speed when radio is turned off? I don't buy it. Especially for a 2 amp radio draw.

If indeed what you say is true, the only logical explanation would be that you have a bad alternator/charging system issue which has partially discharged the battery to a voltage lower than specified OR your battery is just plain crap as in defective. The battery in my car works great and mine exhibits none of the symptoms you describe no matter what accessories I use.

If you already installed your sub, did you run it directly to the battery? (which you should). Did you run it through the firewall properly or do you have a partial short that manifests itself when power to the sub is turned on? Also, if you ran power to something "convenient", you might be pulling too much amperage through a wire and who knows what you might be affecting. Could be melting and shorting a wire in the harness somewhere.
