I spoke to Ken at TRDSPARKS today regarding exhaust for the 2009 Corollas. He said TRD DEFINITELY is NOT going to do anything for the 10th gen Corollas. Too many issues with CARB nowadays. He also said he has repeatedly contacted Borla and they haven't even returned his inquiries. We also know from another thread that Borla may be doing something IF someone gets them a car to work on, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that either.
He also said TRD will NOT be doing any superchargers for the cars anymore as they lost a lot of money on the last ones they did.
Sounds like we might just be on our own for this one.
One ray of hope however, Ken also said that UNICHIP is working on an application for 10th Gen Corollas that should be done around the fall. Will be expensive though. In the +$500 range. They are nice though since you can get it on a Dyno and custom tune for your set-up. I'll probably do that when it's available and in the mean time, I'll probably get started on my own exhaust set-up. I'll let you all know how it goes.

This is pretty much known information for a while regarding TRD.
As for the Borla exhaust research, the only hope we have is getting a donor vehicle which at this point as of yesterday looks promising.
I sure hope Borla comes through. I already made arrangements to have my spare car ready if/when borla makes their decision. as far as power options go, there are a lot of aftermarket turbo setups that just need some minor modifications to fit our cars. the only thing I worry about is the tunability of our ECUs.

I was talking to a custom exhust guy and he was saying that these cars are pretty quiet even without a muffler at all due to the converter and the resonator. He was saying some guys just run a pipe out with a tip on it. I think I'm going to unbolt the muffler and take a listen. There are some nice muffler "Tips" out there and that might be all it would need. it'll take some design work but I used to do custom exhausts for a living, so why not check it out!

Is yours a 2.4 or 1.8.
If it's a 2.4, if you could take a couple of pictures of it, it would be nice. I think it's the system as the 1.8, but I'd like to know.

yes I do have an Xrs 2.4L. I ran open pipe for a little while and seriously it sounds pretty "beefy" I went to a meet, and they were all wondering what exhaust I had! lol Im not sure what you want me to take pics of. all I did was disconnect the rear muffler section of the exhaust...just make sure if you do this, to keep the bolts in a safe place...im stupid...I lost mine.

I wanted a picture of the muffler section to see if it looks the same as the one on the 1.8.
Thanks
