for the past 3 days here in Ontario, Canada, its been close to 30 degrees and a bit above.....so its hot hot.
I dont know if its me being overly hot, or if the air conditioning isnt as cold as it should be. I have that "air recycle" button turned on along with the AC button turned on. It just doesnt seem to cool the cabin down. All my windows are rolled up, my vents are open, everything seems set.
couple of things. drink some cold water before going into your car.
but yeah it has been very warm as of late. its 31 here today and feels like 39. yikes! i leave my windows open a crack for cross ventilation (i find this makes somewhat of a difference), and even left the sunroof open today. i park in an open parking lot, so no shade at all....
i am planning to get my car tinted in the future, but with this heat that may be very soon.
i find the air condition works well when its at setting #3. i also find the "air recycle" button doesn't make much of a difference either. i've just accepted it and don't worry all that much.

Same here. The A/C is not as cold as my previous cars and you do have to set the fan to 3 or higher to get decent cold air. The recirculate button is mostly effective for cutting down the humidity.

You're not imagining things, the newer environmentally friendly R134a refrigerant is not as efficient as the older R12 freon. It does take a bit longer to get a pre-soaked hot interior down to a comfortable temperature but once there it seems to do a OK job keeping up. I've heard this complaint from numerous individuals across a wide range of newer makes and models.
The air recirculate will make a diff once the inside air is colder than the outside air. You will be recooling air instead of starting with 31 * air. What is that in F* anyway, like 90? It was 102 F in Kansas today
It was a 100 wiht a heat index of 107 in Tulsa Today.
I have my 2009 S tinted to 15 percent. The black interior seems to make the car soak up more heat. I have started cracking my windows while the car is sitting to let some of the heat out.
When I get in it I turn it on high and roll the rear windows down for a few minutes until the hot air gets moved out.
I just had the AC on my 98 Corolla recharged and wanted to compared it to the AC on my dad's 09 Corolla. I felt like the AC in the 98 could be cooler.
I used my very trusty meat thermometer which is very sensitive and quite accurate. On both cars I had the side vents closed, air recycling on. I put the prong inside the center vents on both cars. The coldest the 98 got was 7.1 deg C (44.78 f). The 09 was colder and showed 4.1 deg (39.38 f).
Both cars use 134a
