looking into putting some blizzaks on the S in the next few weeks, just thinking of picking up some new summer rims over the winter/spring.
looking at a 17x8 (they offer them in the +35 or +20)
i think the +20 would make the car look much more aggressive.
If i do these wheels i will be ordering Tein S-Tech's to go along with the new wheels.
Should i do the 17x8 +20 with S-Tech's and a 205/45/17 tire? (tire size still in the air)

17x8 is fine. I have +35mm offset & I can't imagine another 15mm of offset.
The tire size is way too small. Either use a 225/45R17 or a 205/50R17. IMO it would look really strange with such a small tire & your speedometer would also be way off.

What suspensions on your car? Usually the more you lower the car the more the tire comes "in" I just assumed a 20 offset would look a little more aggressive, but i dont want mexiflush.

I'm running Eibach springs which look pretty good IMO with the wheel offset. To me +30mm offset would look good & maybe +25mm but +20mm would be too much with a 8" wide wheel.

lets put aside rotational because the ratio can be severely skewed depending on the mass distribution profile.
you will add ~16lbs in wheel weight, that is like putting 160lbs in the trunk with current wheels! now your acceleration/brakes has to deal with this extra "160lbs".
rotational mass steals power so the lighter the wheel the more power you can get into acceleration, etc.
for a oem 1.8L i would recommend staying with oem wheels or if you get new wheels they shouldnt be heavier than oem.
why do you say $400 per wheel to get lighter wheels? i got 18's TSW's with Hankook v12's mounted/balanced and delivered to my door for $1375! these wheels are lighter than the oem 17's.
I have yet to find a wheel that i like within my budget that is lighter than stock....

It should be easy to find a lighter wheel that you like since the stock alloy wheel weighs 21 lbs.

there has to be a balance between "like" and "performance". i dont 100% like my 18" TSW's, but the price quality and ~17lbs lightweight made it worth it, etc.
honestly, I didn't worry about weight. Yes I would have liked a lighter weight, but price, quality and style matters more IMO. This is my DD, I do not need to turn great time slips in from my commute to/from the office, lol. While I don't LOVE my wheels (I wanted a thick 5 or 6 spoke), I got my RS7's for a great deal IMO and with LOTS of sanding and some paint and new painting (for SnG's), they definitely help set off my car.

this is very hard for me...
im 90% function over fashion. but i like stuff to look clean and not all rigged up.
most light weight wheels (shall we say under 18lbs?) dont look great, on a Corolla anyway.... maybe other cars sure. but wheels with the "racing look" (normally found on lighter weight wheels) only look right if the Corolla is pretty low.
i really would like to find some 5 spoke ones were the spoke runs all the way to the edge of the rim. but not only is that style scarce... try finding one in a 17/18" under 20lbs is not happening right now...
this is the closest wheel i can find to meet in the middle
ok? cant link from tirerack for some reason...
Motegi MR125 or SP10

i dont know the weight of the Moda's but they have several 5spokes. my Rotary Forged are ~17lbs.
just dont go heavier than the oem wheel (wheel as in rim+tire).
the SP10 is not a 5spoke, so if you like SP10 then look at TSW, Enkei, and OZ Ultraleggera.
Motegi SP10
OZ
TSW Rotary Forged
I like that SP10, O.Z., & TSW as they may all look good on my Prius.
