Having rear drum "breaks" on a car like the Corolla is a non-issue. For the cars intended purpose, drums work just as well but are cheaper and last longer so why not? Sure they don't look as cool but I could get a little picture of a disc and bolt it behind the rear wheels and you'd never know the difference. I promise.

has anyone looked into the price of the caliper to convert a S to a XRS in the rear?

All of my cars have had disc in back, i think the last car i drove that didnt have disc was close to 10 years ago on a little cheap Saturn

Why do you want rear discs? Serious question. Is it "just because" or do you feel you'll gain something by swapping to rear discs? Just curious. On a heavy rwd vehicle that has somewhere close to a 50:50 weight distribution or a track car I can see the advantage, I just don't see how it would honestly make much difference on a fwd compact commuter car unless it was just something you wanted for the heck of it.

I think he wants discs because he wants big rims and he wants other people to see that he has 4 disc breaks. I think they look cool, personally. They are better, but they are also more expensive.

Is it actually possible to change drums to discs? Are they expensive and hard to do?

i am thinking bout converting to rear discs too....it's technically possible, there are actual tutorials online, BUT those are for like trucks and really old cars, by no means related to the rolla....and since the rollas come with EBD standard that might be an extra problem too

god damn it i wish TRD actually develops parts for these rollas

Yeah Yohan pretty much summed it up Puffy
Ever see 5 spoke rims (18) with a freakin drum behind it? Stupid idea...

I dont believe it would make a performance gain, maybe a stoptech or brembo kit on a track car yes... it would help out

But for looks and ease of maintenance i would rather have disc brakes all the way around

Heh. Rear drums are essentially "maintenance free." Never had to reshoe my 4Runner up to 167k miles. Only did the rears on my Camry once in 267k miles. I can't even tell you how many times the fronts were done on the Camry.
