Lucky guy

Maybe Toyota has made changes to the XLE trim to include rear disc brake!

Nope, the Mexico-spec cars have disc brakes and some other stuff that is different from Canada/USA. IIRC they don't have XRS models in Mexico though.

The differences between Mexico and the USA are similar to the ones between Canada and the USA. Different markets get different vehicle specifications. It's simply the nature of things.

Orale! Welcome to TN man.. I'm curious to know where your coche was made, Canada or the US? it's weird how Toyota has so many differences within the North american market.

Get the rear axle from a Corolla XRS or Matrix 1.8L, it's bolt on. You'll need some other parts though, like the e-brake cables, etc.

USA

yeah its annoying how they are all different. when I went to Taiwan last summer, my relatives were like corolla?.........OH! you mean you have the Altis...yeah its really nice over there and it has a 1.8 and a 2.0 with paddle shifters/tiptronic, 4 wheel disc brakes on all models. It does have the longest name ever! omg....take their version of the S...its not 2009 toyota corolla s, its more like the 2009 toyota corolla 1.8/2.0 Corolla altis Z aerotourer. And i found a website that looks like they sell accessories and stuff but its in chinese so yeah........
http://www.ht-carmax.com.tw/product.asp?key=ALTIS
and here are some pics from my trip

If you look closely and zoom in, you can see the rear disc brakes

when i was there i also saw this mercedes taxi lol

Can't believe it....That was almost a deal killer for me but I do not like any type of Conversions....Like the rest of the north American Corollas, My XLE has drum rears!

had to look twice I bought it and saw them...$18k and you get drum rear brakes....Oh well, they stop the car!
