I've been talking to Dave over at Eibach in Corona Ca.
I really want them to make a set of springs specifically for the XRS or at least document the drop height. Preferrably the Manual version.
He has always told me they have not been able to get their hands on one to do R&D and just now he told me they would provide a set of springs installed free of charge for using your XRS as a donor. And if you can prove it, I'll paypal you $50.00!
For reference:
More homework I've done.
I found curb weights for the 2009
Curb weight CE
1235 kg (2722 lbs)(M/T)
1245 kg (2744 lbs)(A/T)
Curb weight LE
1275 kg (2810 lbs)(A/T)
Curb weight S
1255 kg (2766 lbs)(M/T)
1280 kg (2821 lbs)(A/T)
Curb weight XRS
1305 kg (2877 lbs)(M/T)
1345 kg (2965 lbs)(A/T)
For reference, the 2005-2006 XRS was 2670 lbs
If you take note on Eibach's website, the part number is the same for the 9th & 10th Gen.
However the drop is more substantial on the 10thgen due to the added weight and such.
Spoke again to Dave over at Eibach in Corona Ca. And he said the biggest difference is obviously going to be the drop due to the aforrementioned. I was not able to get a clear answer regarding ride quality or stability. One could speculate tha there will be some change, namely the stiffness since the coils are slightly more compressed.
My biggest concern is those springs were made for the lighter 9thgen, and apparently the specs allow them to use what they have currently, but the XRS is not included for the 10thgen. The drop has exceeded the 1.1" drop to almost 2" in some cases with the 10thgen, and thats a plus. I don't think a 1.1 drop on the 10thgen is really enoughanyway. I just wonder how much stability and ride we are losing with the extra weight on the XRS, especially those of you with the AT.
He mentioned again for you XRS owners, that in turn for using the car as a tester you will get a free set of springs with installation.
