Faulty wipers - Intermitent wipers

Hello TN,

I have a problem that I think you guys might be able to help:



I own a 2009 Toyota Corolla S that has about 42K miles. Around two or three months ago, I started to notice that my windshield wipers were not functioning properly. They were not completing the wiping cycleÖ they were actually doing the wiping, but barely (very slow and rather choppy) . This problem occurred only in first or second speed, while third speed (the fastest one) remained operating as expected. The problem kept getting worse, up to the present state were only my third speed works and 1st and 2nd will not wipe at all. Any ideas of what might be happening? Could this be related to the wiper controller or o the wiper motor?
Any light on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

If it still under warranty take it in to the stealership and have them figure it out lol. But most likely would be a faulty wiper motor.

i would think its that stalk. the stalk is what controls the intermitent cycles. if it was the motor, it wouldn't complete the wiping cycle no matter what speed it was on.

Faulty Wipers

So far, I have one person for the wiper motor and one person for the stalk! Iíll do an inspection of the mechanism and if there is nothing evident, Iíll take it to the dealer. I just donít want to screw up the car for something that seems to be quite simple. Letís hope the solution wonít turn out to be an expensive one.

Guys, just an update.

It was actually the motor that was faulty. It had to be replaced.

The whole thing ended up costing around $200 =(
