USA washing car issues

would it have been too much to ask if the engineers that designed the black piece just below the windshield wipers a way for the water to drain on it's own. is mine the only one that has water pool in the canal they built. there has to be a better way to drain the water without it standing and building up there.
i know i sound like i am making a big issue of this, but you would think there has to be a better way.

It is annoying, and if you don't wipe it off, it leaves a nice ring.
That whole peice is a bit floppy too. I hate to see what happens here in the midwest during the winter with snow and ice buildup.

It seems that where the windshield wiper arms attach into this piece is drainage, would it be reasonable to assume the entire tray underneath is the same? If one were to drill a drain hole where it pools the most would this problem be allieviated?

drilling a hole is a good solution as long nothing underneath could be damaged from the water over a period of time. i wil look to see if there will be any potential problems down the road to that.

LOL! Every week or two.... I wash my car almost everyday unless the forecast is calling for rain the next day, and thats a detailed wash, with towel dry, and tire shine... Every weekend it gets the Mother's wax treatment, step #2 - sealer&glaze + step #3 - Carnauba non cleaner wax, step #1 - prewax cleaner is a twice a year or when needed thing... Anyway back on topic I have no problem with the little pool of water I just soak it up with the chamois, oh and in regards to the black plastic piece under the windshield don't forget to shine it up with armour all of whatever u use when detailing, cars gotta be clean

More of an obsession I guess... It's easy this time of year! Now you should see me outside in February in my waterproof survival suit designed for use on the open water washing my vehicle with ice hanging off me... luckly i have a heated garage to thaw it out and dry it off... now thats luvin your car... and maybe grounds for some serious counseling
