I am pondering whether to get the OEM inserts or custon install some other aftermarket lamps into the fog blanks. To help with this decision the question was for all those that have fog lights on their Corollas, I was wondering if you
have seen their perfomance alone, with no other lights to interfere or aid. Is the beam pattern:
1) like a genuine fog lamp, low with sharp flat low beam cutoff or
2) like a driving lamp, like high a beam pattern or
3) more for cosmetics, not giving any real useful light on its own.

Thank you in advance.
my 09 corolla S came in with fog lights installed. my answer to your question is no. 1
they do make a difference...but dont count on them letting u see in fog....i've tried it...epic fail lol
it's funny when u turn on the high beam both the low beam and fog lights automatically go off
hmm...i thought only fog lights go off? almost all cars i've seen equipped with oem fog lights does that...only fog lights turn off when you hit the high beams.

Cobalt turns off the low beam (so to speak.. I believe it's a one bulb, dual beam setup). My Prius is the same yet high beams doesn't truly compromise near visibility. On the Cobalt, it did so we left it on low beams all the way down Yosemite (it was a rental car and Yosemite, if you don't know, is twisty)

If you are driving in the fog, you don't want high beams anyway because the fog will just reflect the light in your face and blind you or all you see is white haze. If you are driving in the fog and you think you need high beams to see far enough ahead so you don't hit anything, you're going too fast considering the weather condition.
