What? Are you saying that I already have an alarm system? Why the heck did I go off buying that Mobile Trace for? I now feel like I wasted money.
oh nonono.
I mean now that $400 or so that Toyota charges for a TOYOTA alarm system is even more worthless cause you said you already get the trunk release and the panic button (which I thought only came with a Toyota alarm system).

It is not in the owners' manual, it is in the Corolla 09 (Canadian) brochure, brochure version C0002-0419E-25 which is also the same version of the downloadable PDF brochure at toyota.ca. All of the Canadian models have "Engine Immobilizer" standard, but in the middle column, page 18 of the brochure, right under Tire Pressure Monitoring System, there is a line with Vehicle Anti-Theft System and it has a "standard" (black filled circle/dot) under XRS. Of course, since page 19 has the weasel-worded "disclaimer" that the specs can be changed at any time, I am guessing the next brochure will have that line removed, since the Canadian XRS owners on TN has indicated their cars do not have the said anti-theft system.
Yes yes...as I said - there is no alarm system on 09 XRS in Canada. No idea about the US models since they're configured differently and come with option packages that are not available (or already included) on Canadian-bound cars. This was obviously a typo which got by someone.
Yeah it sucks I know. But IMHO, immobilizer does more to protect my car anyways. And alarm system don't work. No one listens to them anyways since they're always going off.
Hmm... I should have just looked to see if there were any posted corrections to the brochure. There was a correction posted on Toyota's dealer info network on March 4, 2008. LOL.

ahh well. Most of the features are now standard with the keyless entry and the engine immobiliser. The alarm option now really is just the alarm since you guys said that the panic and trunk release buttons already come with the remote (if equipped) as standard equipment with the alarm option.

Well, I agree with those who say the alarm systems are pretty useless anyways--when was the last time you called the cops when you heard someones' alarm going off? My current car has one, and it did scare off some potential thief ONCE, and all I got for my trouble was since then, my automatic door locks no longer lock/unlock the passenger side front door. If it was part of the standard XRS offering, I'd not have minded, but I am not really putting it in as a dealer installed accessory.
