Just a quick note to all interested in DASHMATS to keep their Rollas' dash in primo shape for the duration-I just ordered mine[in grey] from Streetbeatcustoms.com.Price $28.50 plus $8.89 S&H for $37.39 total which is about $4.00 more than I usually pay but the early bird gets my dinero!! I expect new shift knob tomorrow and already had put Grey Wheelskin steering wheel cover [single color/euro-perforated]on,which looks outstanding..am waiting on ordered OEM-style spoiler and then I'll be dialed in excepting yanking out the paper-coned stock speakers and putting in some three -ways..hope to hear from DIYers re: cartridge style oil change{1.8]ease/how-to[??] and/or head unit install[will an atypical single DIN Pioneer pop in easily?] or size of front/rear spkrs and brand/size of spkrs you went with-keep sharing and we'll all get these bad boys motorvatin'..

So you can have the Dashmat smash you in the face when the passenger air bag goes off?

For the uninitiatedashmats are made of cloth, weigh very little, have a cutout to allow for passenger bag deployment,do not impede sound from your speakers should any speakers be mounted in the dash, block harmful UV rays from harming your dash, add a nice look of customization to your ride, and I will not consider my wheels Rolla-able til' a Dashmat is in place!!! I certainly do not believe the product would be offered for sale if it were a safety risk.

There will be some risk with it. There is no way you can 100% rely on any cut out working properly when the airbags goes off. Most modern cars including the Corolla do not have the visible flap on the dash where you can tell exactly where the airbag will come out like in the 90's. The force of the deplyoment may cause the mat to come off the dash even if there is a cutout in the Dashmat. If it was secured so firmly that it didn't, it would then interfere with the airbag deployment. It will be an eye hazard at minimum.

I wouldn't be too concerned. Considering the explosion to deploy the bags is violent enough to break arms and wrists I doubt a piece of fabric is going to slow it down too much
