Dome Light Issue....Any Ideas??

Hello and Gooid Day Folks, I have a 2009 Corolla, I am wanting to install my radar detector using the dome lights 12 volt wire, My question is i have removed both dome light shields to get to the screws to remove the unit, BUT there are no screws. If i apply pressure to the sides i can feel that there is some kind of holding issue in the middle of the unit.

Does it just "POP" out??

I do not wish to apply to much pressure. UGH........

no screws...............

no visible clips...................

any idea how to remove it?? any help would be great

Typical Noob Sorry folks

after getting my flashlight and looking around a little further, i found that in the front and rear of the dome light unit, there are 4 major size stainless clips, simply push in flat screwdriver in between dome unit and top of inside of car, and push each clip. then the unit will come out, then simply "pop" it back in.

now we have the clean install look for the radar detector. gotta hate that cig lighter wire hanging down look.

thanks any ways doods and dood ets.

God Bless, Steve .......yes.......I am the Big Goon

Good Day

If i knew how to post a pic i would show you that way, the light unit simply "pops" into place, if you were in the car looking at the unit, insert a screwdriver about 1 inch from the left side going to the right and push the blade in, doing this you will feel pressure from the killer clip they have in there,, then you will be able to pull that end of the light unit down somewhat, then do the same to the right side too, once you have the front edge down and out, you will see how the back side is and then able to drop the unit out.

once out you will see the power wire, there are 2 wires on mine, one had a green stripe and the other a red stripe, i used the volt meter and the red side was my "hot" wire, i simply used one of those blue crimp on "in line" wire crimpers to apply the radar detector wire for power.

hope this wasnt to confusing, i will try to learn how to go about doing fotos, they sure help when teaching folks stuff.

God Bless you Folks here at the Forums.
