$70 for an adapter is rediculous.

soldering is your friend.

It is a steep price, but the quality of work is high... and it makes the install so so so much easier, and cleaner. plus, i'm sloppy with soldering.

I called car toys and asked them if they could possibly install XM into my car using the FM/AM/XM receiver that came on the Corolla and what they told me was they'd have to take off the interior roof of the car to reach the wires, rewire the wires to the main antennae and I'd STILL have to use a dinky looking XM removable receiver. I just decided to go with the most straight forward set up and had wires all over the place. I hid them well and they don't bother me anymore. The conclusion of the story is, XM is great to have, but a pain in the ass to actually install if you hate messing with wires. I should have paid the extra 400 to have it installed with the car!
You are soo right ..I can live with the wires...I never listen to fm anymore...The antenna was the hardest to do..

Yeah, I reckon it's worth it if you're serious about your sirius! Plus you can return it to normal and take your rig with you if you trade.

I also wonder if you can simply buy both xm and sirius direct antennas and cut and solder those to achieve the same result (plugging into the oem antenna) I bet it would work out just as costly though

I love my Corolla and I love my Sirius. I just wish it wasn't such a pain in the ass to install it in the Corolla.

From what I'm reading, I couldn't be bothered installing it myself as I am absolutely useless with these kinds of things.... and to pay Toyota a ridiculous amount of money for them to do it, just isn't worth it.

Guess I'll just have to live with having Sirius at home and not in my car...

In fact, this wont be possible until new satellites are launched into orbit - scheduled around 2010 - 2012 or so. I'm pretty sure the new satellites go up in 2012.

In a few months, you'll be able to opt for a programming package that includes content from the other provider at an additional fee. If you have XM, you'll be able to get a select package of Sirius programming (including Howard Stern, Shady .45, sports, etc) for an additional 6.95/month.

The same goes for Sirius, subscribers can get additional XM programming at an extra monthly fee.

But until its all said and done, its going to be several years until both XM and Sirius radios are able to receive each and every channel from either provider regardless or what brand receiver is being used.

That won't happen until the new satellite are in orbit.

sort of right, but sort of wrong.

On november 12, 2008 Sirius and XM merged ALL channels, some of Sirius' remained, and some of XM's remained (though this was also sometimes just the names that stayed, and playlists were different). The only thing being broadcasted differently is, "The best of Sirius" for XM customers, or the Best of XM for Sirius customers; also not available to be ordered in Canada if that's where you are.

So, basically, the only channels exclusive to Sirius are be the following:

Howard 100 (XM 100) XL

Howard 101 (XM 101) XL

NFL (XM 105-109, 114, 117-120)

NASCAR® (XM 104)

Martha Stewart Living Radio (XM 103)

Playboy Radio (XM 99) XL

And Exclusive to XM:
  • NBA
  • NHL Home Ice
  • Oprah & Friends
  • The Virus
  • Public Radio with Bob Edwards
  • College Sports
  • PGA Tour
I originally chose XM over Sirius before the merge and i'm glad I did. They also have more ground repeaters if you are in a large city. PS.. I installed an aftermarket XM radio in my corolla, without splicing into the other antenna. It looks the same as yours, except I put it right below the other antenna on the back, and ran the cable along the window seal into the trunk.

Ran along the side of the window seal, and then into trunk, with it tie wrapped onto the wire that opens the trunk. sorry you can barely see the wire since it's so thin.

I have my Sirius Radio Antenna installed on the front passenger dashboard. Didn't like the look of the antenna on the outside. The reception is good even at that location. I'm in NYC. I ran all the wires to the center console. Have my radio in a cup holder mount. The wiring hid pretty well under the center console.

Toyota parts shows for sirius radio PT545-00080 and PT545-02090.
Such assy kit comes with this antenna in the photo, an extension cable antenna is missing instead. For XM check it out the code 86180-0w031 - such code also refers to the extension antenna cable.

Is Someone knows the correct Toyota code for Sirius radio assy kit for a 2010 Corolla S with a satelitte antenna built on the roof?

I found that the connector to the Lexus satellite radio antenna adapter kit will fit the factory antenna in my 2009 Corolla. The part number is 40-LX30; I got mine from Best Buy but you can get them cheaper on eBay. I cut the nylon around the connector and uncrimped and unsoldered the two pieces of the connector. I then got a small magnetic antenna and cut the cord at the magnetic mount. Stripped back the shielding, put two pieces of heat shrink tubing over the end, soldered the pin to the center conductor, crimped the square shell over the outer braid. Slid the tubing over the shell end and heated. It hooked up directly to the factory antenna. I used the small magnetic antenna because the connector at the radio has the 90 degree bend, which makes the installation much neater. Just leave the excess cable under the header. I ran a line out cord through the ash tray area to the Aux jack. My Inno works fine.

Antenna location

I have my xm antenna inside the car right by the rear speaker. It doesn't necessarily have to be outside. I get good reception every time. just make sure the antenna has a straight view to the sky. You should not have any problems!
