The one in the roof only works with the Toyota XM radio, however I don't think that is the correct mounting location for the Sirius antenna, I'd have to take a look at the installation instructions.

Usually they get mounted on the inside of the windshield near the rear view mirror, pretty out of sight. Not sure about the 2009 Corolla though.

It's installed in the correct location as per Toyota's installation instructions. See http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...&parts_id=2120 (installation instructions is at the upper right hand area of the page).

Yeah, looked over the instructions, it is correct.

Looks horrible though.

That was the reason I went with XM instead. I'm not a big fan of sports or talk shows, therefore there was no reason to go with a particular provider other than for the looks. Many people have successfully used the OEM antenna with aftermarket Sirius tuners. They have either spliced into the factory antenna harness or used one of these adapter shown on the right hand side of this link http://www.tss-radio.com/toyota-lexu...c1-p-5628.html. I'm not sure if these adapters will work with the OEM Sirius receiver.

I am not sure why you would have gone through all of the trouble in getting Sirius installed (unless you already had an account with them) because Sirius just bought XM to form a new company called Sirius XM Radio. So if your car already had XM pre-installed you will soon be getting Sirius branded stations as well as the ones XM offers. If your car did not have XM preinstalled I think I would have went with just for the cleam integration and prewiring from the factory.

The placement is just begging for someone to mess with it. If you slide that puck around it will leave scratches just an FYI

This ability has been around for a few years now.

As far as I'm aware (and I've been following the XM-Sirius merger very closely) there's still several years before XM and Sirius are broadcasting the same content simultaneously.

In fact, this wont be possible until new satellites are launched into orbit - scheduled around 2010 - 2012 or so. I'm pretty sure the new satellites go up in 2012.

In a few months, you'll be able to opt for a programming package that includes content from the other provider at an additional fee. If you have XM, you'll be able to get a select package of Sirius programming (including Howard Stern, Shady .45, sports, etc) for an additional 6.95/month.

The same goes for Sirius, subscribers can get additional XM programming at an extra monthly fee.

But until its all said and done, its going to be several years until both XM and Sirius radios are able to receive each and every channel from either provider regardless or what brand receiver is being used.

That won't happen until the new satellite are in orbit.
