So who's gonna pass on the floor mat recall?

Just got the letter finally today and I think I'm gonna say no for now. Can always get it done later. I have the Toyota OEM all weather mats and everything is secure, and don't like the idea of the gas pedal removed again and made smaller and the floor cut up. No idea what any of this is gonna look like. I know the dealership will probably give me flack but i think one gas pedal recall is good enough for now. What's everyone else doing?

Londonguy- I am holding off right now on that recall as well. You and I bought our cars at the same dealership. Did you receive their "canned recording" on your phone telling you your opportunity was running out to have the shim installed? Did you ever have them install this shim? I still need to set up a time to get that done but I'm not sure I want them near my car.

I'm not worried about this recall as my mats are very secure & don't come any where close to the gas pedal. I also installed different pedals any way so I don't see the need.

Hey Harley. Yes I did have the shim installed by them back in March. No problem that I can notice. They told me it was in my best interest to have the floor mat recall and I told them I didn't really want my floor ripped up and they said suit yourself. Never been a fan of that dealership.

I dont see why people say tear up the carpet. The pull it back and pull out a styrofoam pad and modify it? I havent heard one person complain about the recall after having it done unless they wanted a new pedal before hand.

I admit I do want a new pedal. I asked the dealer they said no way, shims need to be installed and pedal cut.
I am particular about all of my vehicles and whether or not people notice the disfigured/hacked pedal is irrelevant. I notice it. If I didnt care about appearance I would have bought a used car.

From what I've heard it looks like shit after. I don't wanna get in the car every time and look at a hacked up pedal either, and you know you would notice it every time even if you never looked at the pedal before.

My bad for taking too long to get the pics up...so here they are...They only cut the pedal and not the floor itself.

That doesn't look too bad but I still don't see how it can get stuck if you have the proper floor mats installed.

My suggestion: call Toyota Canada and tell them that you don't want the shim or a cut up pedal, and you want a new pedal installed that is already shortened. See what they say, and if they'll do it for you.
