Free Floor Mats from Toyota?

A friend of mine received a letter from Toyota offering free floor mats. I did not get this letter. Anyone know what this is about?

Maybe related to the pedal incidents?
Were they free all-weather or just the free carpeted ones that I think comes standard with the corolla?

I have not seen or heard of this. Toyota sent a letter out to all owners explaining how to properly install floor mats and what not to do, but I don't believe they have offered any free mats in Canada at least. That is something I would have heard of.

I got it also. It said that if the dealer feels that your all weather Toyota mats were an issue in any way they would be replace for free with a newer design. I haven't looked into it yet any further.

Canada

The US and Canadian All-Weather mats are different in design. The US design was the only one that posed a possible interference problem with the gas pedal.

Wasn't it that the earlier ones didn't have the retainer clips in the floor, but the newer ones do? I've gotten that letter twice...

Yes that's correct. The Corolla All-Weather floor mats for CANADA were different and not affected by any pedal entrapment possibility

...unless you had 3 layers of non-OEM floormats, a few crushed pop cans, and some McDonald's wrappers lying around by your feet.

I didn't get a letter, but when I brought my car into a dealership for the steering drift issue, they tried to swap out my all-weather floormats with a newer design. I declined because they were thinner and I had no issue with my original floor mats

exact same thing happened to me. went for the pedal fix and they tried to replace my mats and i declined because i like the deep mats and they were basically new at the time. If they offer that in 5 years i may accept haha

The funny part of that is the gas pedal never comes close to the floor mat at any point.

If they will give me a new set & let me keep my old ones, I'm fine with that.

Are the new ones is the same design like in canada? I dont have any problem with my mats even before they reshape my pedal.

The Canadian ones never changed, the USA ones are thinner and different, but neither USA style is the same as the Canadian ones.

A number of owners have reported that they demanded to keep the old ones, and were not hassled as long as they signed a liability waiver.
