Thanks for the tips on the 2007 radio. I have the same volume problem, it just appeared recently. I haven't tried the controls on the steering wheel but thanks for that tip. I wrote up the problem on another site, so I have pasted it below. Next trip to the dealer I will get a new head unit and make sure he does not charge me. Now to find out what a head unit is.

"I have a 2007 Camry with the basic radio. A couple of times recently the volume control has stopped varying the volume. It does the on/off function OK by pressing it. But on two occasions it has failed to change volume when it is turned. Both times I pulled the knob off and turned the shaft by hand, that did not work either. However after a while it started working again. I don't think it just involved switching off the radio or the engine. The second time I noticed that it happened after I turned on the ignition to listen to the radio before I started the engine. After a bit of fiddling, it started to work again. Any ideas? Its not quite time to trade!"
