I just returned from a road trip to Montreal and Quebec City. After almost 1,000 miles in 5 days, I really prefer a captain seat (at least for the driver) like my wife's CR-V. The center console is a bit low for the arm.
BTW, the navigation on my XLE works perfectly in Canada. I didn't try every function of the Entune App Suite but the "Traffic" doesn't seem to work.
The driver seat is a single/"captain" seat. But if you mean "Captain", like if it will swivel tilt, have arm wrests, or recline.....No they do not.
The term adapted from the RV Captain seats have really been stretched
I thought you meant the rear seats... they are not really Captain per say... they don't spin around, but they do have an arm rest and there's a gap between the two seats so its easy to get back to the 3rd row w/o moving the second row seats... if you have a little one that climbs back there...
I have 5'10" 230 lb 16 year old and 13 year old that like their arm and leg room... the Captain chair slides way back and reclines so anyone sitting in the middle row has tons of room. Guys from work were sitting back there and said there's more room there than their Mini Van.
Sorry for the confusion.... I meant the 2nd row captain seats for the driver and front passenger seats. It would be great if I had the adjustable armrest for a long trip.
Yeah we had those in our Odyssey and they were great. But then we didn't have a big center console to store stuff in. I think Toyota figures you can raise/lower the seat to match the armrest in the door and center console to your arm.
Girls, 10 & 12, love the captains chairs also. We checked out an XLE with the bench seats, and a Limited with captains. They preferred the Limited with captains.
I have captain chairs in the second row of my 2012 HY Sport and everyone ranging in age from 12 to 92 who have sat in them absolutely love them. Bear in mind that I do not have any concern for very young children that require car seats.
