Chrometec wheel covers

I didn't realize that the Chrometec wheels on my Limited model are actually wheel covers over an alloy wheel. Has anyone with a Limited seen what the wheel looks like under the cover?

They are not a cover in the traditional sense that they can be removed or replaced according to a review done by alex on auto on youtube. They are put on with a permanent adhesive so if you curb your wheel your still looking at replacing the whole rim. Thats my understanding anyway.

19' Chrometec wheels (with plastic covers) on Limited look cheaper and ugly compare to 19' wheels (with no plastic covers) on XLE model.

I just picked up a limited and the wheels look great in person. You would think they are any normal chrome wheel.

They look not bad on Limited. But compare to XLE

On XLE they look much... much better and modern! And most important thing there is no plastic on XLE's 19' wheels.

I am pretty sure the XLE has "18-in. split 5-spoke machined-face alloy wheels with P245/60R18 105S tires"

Maybe Canadian Toyota site shows wrong information. Anyway I am not talking about the size.

I am just saying that they look great in person. Online doesn't do them justice.

I visited today Toyota dealer and saw both Limited and XLE. No doubt! XLE wheels look more atractive and stylish!

That XLE wheels look a lot better imo, maybe because i was never a fan of chrome. I just ordered anthracite plastidip and will dip my wheels this weekend. Will post pics when done.

Its really bad idea made wheels from plastic (even partly). Especially on top Limited trim.

If it were replacable in case of the wheel being curbed I could see the appeal. Truthfully none of the new HL wheels have 'wowed' me, they are all blah.

Anyone else with Chrometec wheels notice they're pretty tough to clean? The brake dust and road grime seems to stick on them pretty good. Even with a premium wheel cleaner I had to do some careful scrubbing. Once the rainy seasons through I'm going to do a good cleaning and apply a sealant on them.

I found them to be really easy to clean with just a car soap and a good brush. Def going to seal them once the weather turns though.
