2015 Toyota Highlander Limited- used

Thinking of purchasing a 2015 Toyota Highlander Limited (certified) used from a dealer. List price is $31,980. It has 58,000 miles on it. It is a good deal just based on price?

I took a test drive recently. One thing I definitely noticed right off the bat was that the interior wasn't a "quiet" as I expected it to be. I am trading in a 2015 Kia Sorento which is definitely quieter on the inside. I mentioned it to the Toyota Rep. who was with me during the test drive and he said that was how they sound which wasn't comforting to me at all. I was thinking maybe because it had a bigger V6 engine(I never had a V6 engine vehicle before) and then I read a few reports on "noisy" interior cabins here and the various methods people have tried to fix it

Also, I was planning to test drive another 2015 Highlander with lower miles(about 26,000) to see if the interior is also noisy.

Not sure what to make of this right now.

Any thoughts?

I test drove 2015 Sorentos and liked the HL better in every way. I think $32K is too much for a 3 year old.

Its a 2 year old vehicle. I have checked the prices for similar trim Highlanders at Carmax and at other dealers and the price all hover around the same. Its the Limited version.

It feels high to me. I am about to pull the trigger on a 2015 Limited Platinum. It is certified used and has less than 17,000 miles on it. Price is 33,500.

I shopped around quite a bit and this was the best I have found. I almost purchased (didn't get it soon enough) a 2015 Highlander Limited with the Driver Technology package from a private seller. That had 35,000 miles and he sold it for 31,500.

All said I think you can do better - for me the issue is not the age it's the mileage.

I would check Cars.com extensively, expand your search radius to 500 miles and check craigslist in the same range. Look in major metro areas as well, especially Dallas, Houston and Chicago - all are easily served by major airlines and usually have high inventory and lower pricing.

A 2015 is 3 model year old in my book, plus there is a deduction for having over 50,000 miles on the vehicle.

Holy millage!
Price is too high.
Unless you must have a car now, I'd wait it out.

@maybeanotherone - no one cares about your book. Even the oldest 2015s are only 2 years and 4 months.
My 2015 is at 2y mark right now. And less than 24k miles. Dealer called me a few times about buying it back. No way!

Model Years 2015, 2016, 2017...........The math isn't that difficult, even without a book. I count 3..........maybe you use "new math"?

That would make my 2016 two years old?!
I think you're forgetting that 2017 hasn't passed yet. Once it does, then your math works.

Liar's figure and figures don't lie. As soon as 2017's were out for sale, 2015's were 3 model years old. If a Toyota dealer says different, let us know.......Could mean + a few $$ on trade.

I found that the price difference between new and lightly used was too small to justify buying used. Might be so on domestic brands, but not on Toyotas and Hondas.

I think I got it! You clearly have a phd in advanced mathematics. I'm sorry I've ever doubted you..
