Do 2017's Come with Clear Bra from the Factory?

Just noticed this on my front and rear bumpers (see attachments)

Sorry about the pic orientation, uploaded direct from my iPhone.

Thanks for the info!

Interesting... I don't see the option on my window sticker or on any other documentation

I have read many complaints about paint chip problems. Perhaps it is complements of the factory.

Our 2017 XLE has the same "bra" looking stuff on front and rear. So many rocks flying around on the roads in Portland from the icy weather we had. We actually got one small chip on the front bumper the first week we had our carWe then elected to get the clear bra put on.

On my 2016 LE Plus, it was part of a 598.00 option. It included front of hood and front of fenders, Mirror backs, Door cups, door edge guards, rear bumper protector.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, rock chips def suck. My two other cars have a ton from Bay Area roads.

Just to clarify, you noticed the "bra " on the front and rear bumper, before or after getting the rock chip?

I have a 2017 XLE and can also see what appears to be the edge of a line of film the same as what is shown in the OP's pics. My vehicle did not come with any paint protection options either.

The thing I noticed on mine is that although I can clearly see what appears to be a layer of film on the bumpers, I can't feel it. If I take my fingernail and attempt to snag the edge of the film, my finger just glides over the border line. This leads me to believe the film-like substance is underneath the clearcoat.

I was under the impression the clear bra that comes as an option is an accessory that is added on top of the clearcoat. The lines on mine appear to have been created during the factory paint/clearcoat process.

Thanks for the reply and info!

I'm really trying to figure out if this is even a bra or not. I only notice it on the front and rear bumpers, as well as a small section on the bottom of the rear doors.

I kinda noticed this too when using my fingernail. That said, I didn't want to dig into it either. But upon closer inspection do agree with you that it seems to be under the clearcoat.

Ooohhhh nice! Its most likley a small section of 3M or PPF (Paint Protection Film).

I took mine to a friend's shop the day I picked up the vehicle to get the 3M applied to the front bumper, and 18" of the hood and fenders, as well as the headlights and foglights. We use a lot of rocks here for traction during the winter, so once everything melts its like little bullets constantly flying at your car..makes for some ugly bumpers after awhile without it haha

Its good that you have it! If you're in an area with lots of rocks, I suggest you also take a look at your headlights and foglights to see if there's a layer of film on it (likely isn't, when I got a quote from the dealership for this add-on they didn't include the headlights and foglights unless you paid like double the amount..). Highly recommended, cracked glass on a headlight or foglight could be a costly fix that's easily avoidable with another $100 or so to a small shop in your area that does 3M....that is, if you live in an area with some gravel or rocks flying around frequently...

We have that on ours too, it's definitely not a traditional clear bra. I looks more like a lip in part of the plastic mold of the bumpers, or an extra layer of paint that was mechanically marked/taped off?

My '16 is exactly the same - normal. Not a clear bra.
