Battery question on 2017 models

If this has already been posted, I apologize. I looked and couldn't find it. For those of us with 2017 models that have the `stop/start' feature.....does anyone know what battery our cars take? Seems when I go to look for a new battery on auto parts sites, the newest model I can search for is a 2016. I thinking we have some type of marine deep-cycle battery, but I haven't been able to confirm it. Anyone know for sure? I don't need one yet, but am curious.

Can you take a picture of the battery?
I doubt the OEM is a deep cycle AGM battery, as the 2014-2016 did not have one. I'm not sure about the Hybrid model either.
But it isn't impossible I suppose.

If you do an ADVANCED search you will come up with multiple threads for battery issues, and I have one for replacing it as well.

Here is an AGM battery I used. Size says 34R. I needed a spacer to raise it that they also sell with this battery.
With AGM, you will notice how the car starts more rapidly vs a standard battery. Of course you also get much more use out of it. In my weather and use it is very typical to need a replace in 3-4years. These are expected to last 7-10,

Phil, there's a huge difference between 2017 and the 2014-2016 models. Because of the start/stop feature, the battery is running fans lights radio with the engine off a LOT more often. Plus cranking a lot more. That's why I'm wondering. That combined with the fact that I cant get any battery to come up for 2017 highlanders for sites like `Interstate Batteries'. I will try to take a photo of what's in there.

I looked at my battery and it is identical to what callmeq posted. Which is a Yuasa D26. I'm still not positive what this means, but it sure isn't a regular battery. I went to Yuasa's website and found this page which is interesting. Seems as if there is a new classification of batteries named `stop-start, and that putting a regular old battey in one of our 2017 stop/start will result in failure 2-4 months down the line ...take a look.

Learn as we go. Yuasa info. (pic) shows "AGM & EFB", but diff. #s. Besides D26, any other # on yours. Whats EFB stand for? Yes, not your ordinary 12V batt. Tnx.

FWIW...Ford uses AGM type batt. in their vehicles with start/stop feature. Johnson Controls is mfg.

btw...what svc. r u using to post pics? Tnx.

Its either a AGM or EFB(enhanced flood bat/?), but according to the site and the cars they list, it is likely the AGM MF series on Yuasa site/pdf file.

So when replacing look for AGM.They're supposed to last long, so hope by the time you need it, its an easy find.

Another way you can check is the volts. If the engine is not running, standard lead-acid battery will give under 13v reading. AGM will give above.

Yes, there are only several major manufacturers. But, and this is BIG but, everything depends on brand demands. My old friend who just retired as mechanic, called EverStart “NeverStart.” Interstate in Costco I think is also made by same manufacturer (Johnson’s) but they are of really good quality. Why? Depends what Interstate demands from manufacturer.
In BMW’s for example one can get batteries from several manufacturers: Johnson’s, Exide, Panasonic. They all easily last 7-9 years. I had AGM battery in VW from 2013 until 2021. VW branded, made by Johnson’s. In Toyota Johnson’s made battery (OE Toyota) lasted 3 years.
So, everything is what brand wants. Technology matured long time ago.

I remember getting a Odyssey AGM that was 850 CCA , which was the 34R size, and they sent a spacer to make it fit the 24F on the Highlander. The battery is made by them, and it was about $275
So the extra 140 CCA cost me an extra $125, but the internals are also built better than a lot of the batteries out there. Since I run 2 amplifiers with around 1100-1300watts power, I didn't want issues. 6 Years now, and starts are still very fast.

Here are the details in case someone wants or need a beifer than standard battery....
