Prices Paid and Possible Deals Discussion

Untrue car invoicing is pretty spot on IMO they list invoice with the premium carpet mats at 45044 plus tax would be 48,872.74

I'm not sure about the tax rate in Florida, but if it is anywhere close to 8 or 9% it seems like a smoking deal, considering there are still waiting lists and dealers are not making much deals yet. I would sign right away.

Pricing from True Car (as best I could)

2014 Limited Platinum Dealer Cost Retail
$39798 $43,590
Special Paint Hood/fenders 352 395
Body Side Molding 125 209
Clear Paint Protection 218 395
Tow Hitch 480 699
Remote Start 310 499
Destination Charge 860 860
Included Fees 1331 65
Paint Protection doors 100 199
Holdback (872)

$42,702 $46,911

True Car only has one paint protection package, so I
“guesstimated” the door protection. I couldn’t hit your
MSRP figure, but this is what True Car reports for the
options you selected. No floor mats? The $42,702
should be considered "rock bottom." Looks to me like
they're making about a grand on you or so. Crap, all my
formatting was removed. figures on the left are dealer cost
and figures to the right of them are retail. Apologies for
the busy comparison...

CORRECTION :
You almost got it right
TRUE CAR NUMBERS ARE INACCURATES. TRUECAR SUCKS ANYWAY, THEIR INFORMATION IS MISLEADING AND THEIR CERTIFICATE PROGRAM THING IS DECEIVING.
Here are the right numbers, I know for sure they are correct because I got 4 proposals from 4 different dealers and they all matched
2014 Limited Platinum Dealer Cost Retail
$39797.5 $43,590
6-gallons of gas 24
Blizzard Paint Special Paint 352 395
Body Side Molding 164 249
Clear Paint Protection Door package 149 199
Clear Paint Protection Hood package 299 399
Tow Hitch 714 849 (DROP HITCH RECEIVER NOT TOW HITCH)
Remote Start 362 449
Man Delv, proc 915 915
Admin Fees 925 0
$43,701 $47,045
So is this a good deal or not ?

Well I wouldn't say true car is misleading cause that's what I used to start my negotiation. The true car number is lower than yours. Personally I bought mine for another 2000 below the true car price. Not saying your wrong about true car just saying based on your numbers you can might get a better deal if you trust the interwebs numbers. Since true car Edmonds and kbb pricing are all within 100 dollars of each other.

@yellowLabPup - I was trying to be helpful. I get the TrueCar service through Consumers Reports. I built and priced my vehicle. My dealer does not participate in the TrueCar program, but he honors the TrueCar pricing. He gladly printed the invoice for the two vehicles he had on his lot and the TrueCar prices were spot on. I agree that the TrueCar certificate program is a sham. It only applies to vehicles sitting on the lot, which is worthless if you need to order.

Using the TrueCar model, my sticker was $46,186, I'm paying $42,362.24 which includes title and dealer fees, but not sales tax. My dealer agreed to the TrueCar "Estimated Price" within $60 dollars. I'm happy, he's happy. I received more off of sticker than you are fwiw and your car has a higher msrp. Judging by what I received without a fight, I'm guessing your dealer has maybe $600 to $700 dollars at least that he could still trim. Good luck.

I totally disagree.

I got a Truecar certificate, went to the dealer and his price was $2000 over the certificate. When I called Truecar back they said that their certifcate is only good for cars in stock. so good luck getting highlander platinum with the options you want.

Now here is why I said Truecar prices are misleading and WRONG. we all agree that MSRP is set by Toyota not by TrueCar, so let's go thru numbers again (from Toyota "NETWEB"):

Toyota MSRP Truecar MSRP
Special Paint 395 395
Body Side Molding 249 209
Clear Paint Protection Hood pkg 399 ????
Tow Hitch 849 699
Remote Start 449 499
Destination Charge (req in FL) 915 865
Admin Fees 925 1331
Paint Protection doors 199 ???? this is not the DOOR EDGE GUARDS (this package includes doors edge, rear bumper , door's cups)
Holdback NOT SURE WHAT THIS IS

Florida Dealer also charge a dealer fee between $499 and $899, so I believe that many components (timing, location, dealer aggressiveness) have to be in place to get a great deal and I do agree that some people have better negotiations skills than others

Awesome, and thhat would be great if you would share your numbers so I can compare them to mine, and share them with my dealer. That will definitly help me convincing him.
