It has a pager and an LCD screen. I love it!! I have had no problems at all. As far as the DIY job just make sure you have all of the CORRECT wire colors and locations and you should be fine. However, the hardest part is always fishing through the firewall. You have to find a good gromet to poke through. It takes time and patience. You could try wirewerx.com for wire colors and locations.
