Another word of caution - don't rely on eBay parts either. I had a switch problem awhile back, it would only work on fan speeds 1, 2 and 4. I knew it was the switch, because if I jiggled the switch lever around I could get 3, but only briefly. Of course, speed 3 is the one I use most often, because 1 and 2 don't blow much air and 4 is too noisy.
I bought a switch on eBay, installed it, and it had the SAME problem as my old one!!! It wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to disassemble most of the dash to get to it.
