Removing rear speakers
To remove a rear speaker in a 1999 Sienna, you must first remove the speaker grill. Insert a flat-bladed screwdriver with its tip covered with tape into the gap between the grill and the side panel, starting at the top rear corner of the grill. Once the two top clips are loosened by prying, move to the bottom and pry or pull the grill to disengage the two bottom clips.
In the 1999 Sienna the driver's side grill has a 12V power receptacle in it and you will have to disconnect its connector.
Next you will need to remove the four Phillips head screws that secure the speaker to the bracket. Take care to avoid dropping the screws down into the side panel where you will never be able to retrieve them. The screws on the sides are easy to access but the ones on the top and bottom are difficult to see and remove. I recommend the use of a magnetized tip screwdriver to help keep the screws from falling after they are unscrewed.
Once the screws have been removed you will need to gently pry the speaker from the bracket. TMC uses a black silicone caulk adhesive to secure the speaker to the bracket. I inserted my pocket knife between the small gap between the speaker and the bracket to get a small opening into which I could insert my flat-bladed screwdriver. Gently twist the blade of the screwdriver to pry the speaker from the bracket. After you repeat this in three or four places you should be able to pull the speaker free from the bracket surface.
The speaker wires are connected to the speaker with spade terminals. Rock each spade connector side to side while gently pulling it in the off direction.
