I made a U turn in an empty parking lot today. This was rolling as I turned my car. I'm pretty sure it came off the undercarriage. Perhaps a brake line or some other line or wires. I have looked under the car but without lifting it up.....I cannot see where it goes. I am hoping someone can tell me what this is and if it's even a 2015 Corolla part.
It's foam and designed to cover something about 24" long. Whatever it protects is 7/8 inch.
I doubt that is from your car.... I have been under my car hundreds or times (due to messing with coilovers) and never seen anything covered with that... there isnt enough clearence from the body to fit that around brake lines and fuel lines are tucked way up under everything
That's what I was wondering. Someone who has been poking around under the car would have seen this. Thanks for your reply!
It could have been a coincidence that this was rolling across a parking lot when I made the U turn and never saw it till after I turned around. I still wonder.
If anyone else happens to recognize this let me know.
Yea, it just such a coincidence that I didn't see it when I pulled into the empty parking lot. When I turned around I saw it rolling in my rear view mirror. I was SURE it had come from my car.
Might be from a bike, construction project, anything. Just can't get over the coincidence.
Anyone else who has looked at the underside of 11th gen Corollas? Please let me know if you have had a good look under your 2015 and have never seen this.
As other said, I don't think it has anything to do with your car. That's insulation for pipes you buy at the hardware store. It's light and was rolling with the wind !
Starting to think the same thing. I just looked up "pipe insulation" and this came right up at my local hardware store! Same exact thing in 2 foot lengths.
Thank you very much for your reply. Exactly what I was looking for. Someone who knows the bottom of the car.
When this happened I would have bet my left arm that it came from my car......I now think it was a set of circumstances that came together. It was the color of pavement, the wind was blowing, and it must have blown it right under my car as I made a U turn.
Now that I think about it......the item was clean. If it had come from under the car it would have had road dust on it. It was very clean and looked new. I only have 1600 miles on it but still......if a cover like that had come off from under the car it would have been dirty.
Haha. I still have this in my trunk. I'm going to ask the Toyota service tech next time I go in. They will laugh and say the same thing you guy are telling me, but I'll ask anyway.
