Feel of the clutch on a '99 Tacoma?

I'm looking for a new vehicle before my move to colorado, I test drove a v6 4x4 99 taco today. The clutch pedal was unlike any other I'd ever felt. It really only gave in about an inch or an inch and a half, but the pedal seemed level with the gas and the brake, it was just a little stiff and didnt give much. Is this normal? About 96k miles on it.

Also should it have had stickers with a # on it (not the vin) on the inside fenders in the engine bay and underside of the hood?
thanks
