The 2006 Tacoma has a 236hp 4.0L V6 and 159hp 2.7L I4. And still is one of the fastest compact trucks. I hope Toyota will give it a new 4.0L V6 to the Tacoma and 4Runner w/ over 270 hp.
I think the Tacoma looks better than the Ridgeline, Ridgeline too ugly and isn't a real truck.
*I reposted the Pruis news so i just changed to something a little random.

Now that Mitsu came out with the Raider V8, you MIGHT see a V8 Tacoma.
The fact of the matter is that right now the Tacoma is the best-selling truck in its class and will probably take the title of "best-selling compact/midsize truck in America" away from the Ford Ranger. So, maybe they dont need a V8. One things for sure though, having the best-selling compact/midsize truck is a major step foreward in increasing their presence in the American truck market.

With the V8 fuel economy will suffer and with America being so fuel conscious, I don't see the need for the Tacoma to have a V8 especially since it is the fastest accelerating truck on the market. Besides, If Toyota really wants mroe power for its truck, I sure they can manage some kind of tricks without resorting to the V8. If the 3.5L engine in the Avalon is capable of pumping 268HP I don't see why Toyota can't increase the HP with its 4.0L
*Optional, adds equipment.
** Arrives in 2006
*** To embarassed to list 0-60. (I think its slow) Probably same as its cousins.
****To embarassed to list towing capacity. (probably weak) Probably same as its cousins.

Toyota would have to be dumber than GM to put a V8 in the Tacoma, at least right now. The Tacoma is best in class, and is the best selling so really it doesn't need anything else done to it. Maybe more HP, but that's it. If they wanted to put a V8 in it, then they would wait until the new Tundra comes out because the only truck V8 Toyota has right now is the 4.7 which is used in the Tundra. Putting it in the Tacoma now would be disastrous to the Tundra, but when the new one comes out with a bigger V8, then Toyota could use the 4.7.

You contradicted yourself, here. Tacoma is already outselling the Ranger, and it is the best selling truck in it's class. IMO, the Ranger wouldn't have been the best selling had it not had bottom basement pricing and LOADS of rebates, as the old Tacoma owned it.

The year isnt over yet, Cress and the Chevy Colorado's sales are only about 30,000 units behind the Tacoma.
I think its a pretty safe bet to say that the Ranger will no longer be the #1 seller.

Its not that pathetic, but i wonder why dont they put the 3.8 V6 found in the Eclipse and Galant. Or just put in the Outlanders/Endeavors/Montero(Sport)
Tacoma is hands down the best compact truck in the market. The Ridgeline should be a catergory in its own since it isnt a real truck. The Tacoma has good mileage, towing, acceleration and could go off-road much better than the Ridgeline. Ridgeline is also too expensive, average cost of the Ridgeline is a little above $30K.
An article from Bloomberg today reveals that Honda’s inventory of the Ridgeline pickup has risen to more than 100 days. So there will be cut production of the pickup by 3,000 units next quarter. Honda will be raising incentives on its light trucks, which include the Ridgeline and Odyssey, in order to move them off the lot and get its inventory under control.
