Chevy Prizm "directly" a Toyota Sprinter, not Corolla.... :)

Well, I finally figured it out. The Chevy Prizm is directly a Toyota Sprinter not Toyota Corolla, although the Sprinter is also like the Corolla but the DESIGN of PRIZM is directly off of the SPRINTER................ I thought GM had made SOME changes but even those were TOYOTA designed changes... Shame on them...

Thanks to my visit to ASIA, I am a little more EDUCATED now. Cheers !

Ummm, no. The Prizm was built at NUMMI in Fremont, California, right alongside the Corolla.

The Geo Prizm shared a slightly different body with the Japan-market Sprinter. The Toyota Sprinter is a slightly upmarket version of the Toyota Corolla. But there were mainly rebadged versions of the Corolla (1980s’ Holden Nova, Chevrolet Nova, Geo Prizm and Chevrolet Prizm). The ones underlined are Sprinter-based but is the same as the Corolla. All Prizms were powered by the same engine as the then present Toyota Corolla models. Thats why they are built in the same factory in New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. plant in Fremont, CA

Technically, you are wrong.

If you left out "directly" and "not Corolla...." then you are absolutely correct.
Your made an interesting point. I never knew the Toyota Sprinter was a upscale version of the Corolla.

GM didn't design the Prism but used the same platform as Toyota. Toyota made the design but shared it to GM, GM did not copy the Toyota. They just needed to jump start their name and a car in the compact segment. But the Prism was basically made by both companies.

Toyota and Pontiac have a joint venture. The Matrix and Vibe shared the same platform but instead had different designs. The Toyota Voltz was sold under the Toyota brand in Japan but had the same styling as the Vibe. (Voltz now discontinued)

Honda and Izuzu did the same thing with the Passport and Rodeo. (Passport, Rodeo now discontinued)

Acura and Izuzu did the same thing with the Trooper and SLX. (SLX, Trooper now discontinued)

Its not shame on anyone, they share a joint venture to help design a car together that could be successful and both share the costs.

Where you go in Asia? Maybe there are differences to where you were.

Is it fun there?
