Toyota may well become the first automaker to put electronic stability control (ESC)?

Toyota is working hard to make ESC standard across the lineup. ESC is already standard or available on almost model in the Toyota product line, including nine sport-utility models.

ESC maker Continental said this week that it plans to make more than 2.2 million ESC units for installation by automakers in North America next year, an 80-percent increase over calendar 2005.

This sounds great that Toyota is starting to put safety into all their vehicles. Hopefully the Toyota Yaris, Corolla...etc will get it standard. This will be a plus for Toyota and will help their sales.

They better act quick. Isn't Honda doing the same by 2006 or 2007?

Stability control is great but I'm also worried about a growing number of newbie drivers who just rely on VSC to save their ass. You know, the "oh I can go around the corner at 90km/h cause if anything goes wrong, VSC will correct me". Eh, no.
