Toyota's sales increase 5.4% in October

Toyota Motor Corp. (TM) said October U.S. sales at Toyota Motor Sales USA increased 5.2% to 173,086 cars and trucks from 170,815 a year earlier.

In a press release Tuesday, the company said October Toyota division passenger car sales rose 12.3% to 90,756 from 83,942 a year earlier. Camry sales fell 6.5% to 32,323, while Corolla sales rose 0.2% to 26,870 cars. Overall, Toyota passenger car sales rose 12.6% to 102,869. Toyota division light truck sales were down 3% to 58,999. Total Toyota light truck sales fell 4% to 70,217 trucks from 75,975 in October 2004. Total Toyota division sales for October increased 5.7% to 149,755 from 147,106 a year earlier. At Lexus, sales rose 2.2% to 23,331 from 23,709. Sales of the Scion model were 13,392.

It is great to see the new IS is selling much better than the old. I'm really looking forwards to see it on this side of the pond. The number of sales isn't an objective for Toyota, but it's always nice to see great cars sell well.

Great numbers for Toyota considering that Ford and GM were both down 20% this month, D-C was down bigtime too.
