FWD RX400h

The FWD-only version of the Lexus gas/electric hybrid was announced today, along with new pricing for the existing AWD version, launched earlier this year.

The FWD RX400h has a combined system output of 268 hp, a 0-60 time of 7.5 seconds and a combined EPA fuel-economy rating of 30 mpg (33 city/28 highway). Both AWD and FWD versions carry EPA Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle certification.

The FWD version starts at an MSRP of $44,060. The AWD base version is now offered without the previously standard nav system with backup camera, for a reduced MSRP of $46,060. 2007 RX400h AWD is now $46,060.

Both AWD and FWD models include a standard list of luxury and performance
features, including leather interior trim, power-tilt/telescoping steering
wheel, roof rack with rails, illuminated entry system, a one-touch open/close
moonroof, six-disc CD changer, HID headlamps with the Adaptive Front lighting
System (AFS), electrically powered air conditioning, 18-inch wheels.

Lexus DVD navigation system with rear back-up camera is now optional.

Both cars feature an eight-year/100,000-mile battery and hybrid system warranty.

Cool, thanks for the update. But then, with 4WD-i, you get TWO electric motors that will regenerate for you!

Also, I never understood the concept of a FWD SUV.

Whats the point of an SUV for most of America? The most off roading that these will see is when they drive over the flower bed. Before you say cargo space, get a Minivan, better milage and more space. I believe that the Sienna has more cargo space than most SUVs and has better loading for both cargo and passengers. Like being high up? Minivans are plenty high. Want to be safer? If everyone stoped buying SUVs, then it wouldn't be a problem.

That's stupid. You get an SUV for 4WD. Most don't even need it. Heck, most only need AWD and you can get that from an Asian or European brand (if you're brand conscious). A FWD SUV is the dumbest thing I've seen.

drunken_panda's right. A minivan works well. If that's too big, get a Mazda5. Don't need 6 seats? get a V50 or a 9-3 SportCombi or, lower down the scale, a Focus wagon or Mazda3 Sport or even the Matrix.

Americans just love the extra room of an SUV. The cargo area has more room than a small sedan. But most people dont really need the extra room.
