the one showed here is actually the late 2003 model. a new refreshed model just came out. the interiors kinda cramped. the cluster should be put in the center and in the range topping 1.5vvti the speedo uses a digital dispaly which IMO is only suitable for calculators. but all in all this is decent for a first car

I had a hard time seeing the gauge cluster.. since it is situated farther away..it takes much more effort to look at the speedometer .. whose idea is it in the first place anyway.. .
I wonder why they don't want to import Vios to NA.. ECHO is just plain ugly.. Vios with a body kit looks nice
Central gauge cluster cuts down on your production costs because they can be used for right/left drive vehicles alike. Save on something like that and you can spend it elsewhere on the car or make more money.
I've been buying that reasoning for a while but if you've noticed, the dashboard on those cars aren't exactly centred. E.g. the old Prius with the centrally mounted gauge actually has the vents, radio and screen moved to the passenger side by 30mm. If you look at the Corolla, the radio is actually right aligned to the centrre console box btwn the front seats.
