I'm planning on buying an 06 civic Si next year...but i would LOVE to get my hands on a redesigned Toyota Celica...
Anybody even "heard" and rumors on this? I live in Canada, so we have no Scion brand, there-for nothing toyota offer's here is even close...and correct me if i'm wrong, but the celica is disco'ed for the 06 model year?
I'm a toyota man, but i'd love a new 06 Si. What i really liked about the ceilica, was the 6spd 1.8 w/180 hp and 8,000rpm redline. Any chance there will be a redesign of this motor with even more power?
Japan and other countries still get the Celica (and MR2 Spyder), but NA doesn't. A shame. It might come back, though, so let's wait & see.

How do you it will never be back? I know that it was discontinuted, but I still think Toyota will bring it back. Although they are not known for bringing back old names ....well, except for the FJ.
It is like other people has said the MR and Celica were continued in other countries. SO technically there is a possibility they could reintroduce a Celica or another version of the MR here. As for the FJ havent they had a version of it in other countries since the as long as the land cruiser has been around.

PLEASE DO NOT GET RID OF THE OLD TN AS WE KNOW IT.
Basically the Scion tC replaces the Celica. I know some of you will say, "thats not a fitting replacement for the Celica!!!" Maybe so, but thats the way it is.
The sales of the Celica have been poor in recent years, so Toyota is doing whats best for business and cutting out the deadwood.
Toyota still makes the Corolla XRS, Matrix XRS and Scion tC, which have similar performance as the Celica GT-S, so its not like you dont have any sporty options.

Wait one second. Toyota said on their website, "legends arent forgotten, they are revived" or something like that in the FJ minisite, so how do we know that the Supra, Cressida, Celica, MR2 wont be "revived"?

I loved the Ceilca. But unfortunately it wasn't a big seller. Doubt you'll see it back in NA this decade when other alternatives exist (ie: prospect of bringing a vibrant Scion brand to Canada is more likely than Celica reappearing).
2006 Manual Transmission tC $16740 160 hp 163 lb ft Stock
TRD Supercharger installed $ 4000 or less 60 hp 20 lb ft supercharger est.
Total Price $20740 220 hp 183 Total Power est.
The Si is a very competitive car but your going to spend the same money and get less horsepower and less torque.
We have done 2 supercharged tCs with a 3rd going on Monday. Both of the tCs that we have supercharged are eating up Acura RSX-S. And they have plenty of power, suspension, and braking options available from Scion and the aftermarket. Plus they aren't driving a car everybody and their brother is driving or will be driving.
I'm not saying the Si wounldn't be a good choice, but do a little research on www.scionlife.com you may find the tC is a better choice.

conveniently forgot to mention the better gearing on the Si along with the lighter weight. I love toyota's, but the tC is just a pig. It's like they couldn't decide whether to cater to people who want more practicality, or a more sporty car.
