saw a rav4 at long beach airport today... nice overall styling, but the funky back with spare tire just isn't my style. i gotta ask tho, does it have led tailights? there were obviously several individual bulbs, but didn't observe them lighting up to tell if they were led taillights or just a cluster of small bulbs (like 194).

Yes it does have LED taillights/brake lights. And given that those are 17" wheels, the spare tyre doesn't intrude that much into rearward vision. I know cause the dealer's lot was a bit tight so I had to reverse from the street into the lot and all the way into the parking spot back there somewhere.

and on the sport model they are 18" wheels

About where it is built. Looking at the parts contents label on the window its 100% built in Japan. Thats odd, usually there is some other country sourced for at least a small percentage or parts.

Toyota currently doesn't have the capacity to build the Rav 4 in North America. That's why it's building a new plant in Ontario Canada that will go up in 2008.
