I don't worry about Hyundai, because I have two toyotas. I wish them the best and I'm glad other auto makers are mimicking toyotas processes and quality, its about time. Any man-made machine has the potential for problems, even Toyota. But, Toyota is the benchmark for quality, I don't think that is just my opinion, ask mercedes, SAAB, Chevy, Ford, Dodge, KIA, VW, Nissan, and ALL the others.

I have a friend that is an engineer on the drive trains at Toyota. He says that the Japanese are work-o-holics!!! I don't think complacency will be a problem with Toyo. It simply is not acceptable with them and their Kaizen continuous improvement philosophy. He also mentions that routinely Honda and other engineers are at their sites observing Toyota's processes. I couldn't believe that they would let them, but he says they do.

what kind of dream world do you live in? right now im working on a 2005 avalon that sent a rod theough the block. the toyotas of the present are nowhere near the quality of toyotas of the past.

I know quite a few of you have been talking about the "resale value" factor. That is a very important aspect to be looking at in this situation, but what many people don't realize (including myself) is that a lot of the general public in different age segments don't even pay attention to resale value. Because of this, Hyundai won't be as disadvantaged in that area as people think.

I know it seems like that, but its not true.
The more vehicles you make, the more problems you are going to have. Thats just the law of probability.

^by that logic, GM's cars must be better than Toyota, since they are the largest manufacturer of cars in the world.

LOL...fair enough. GM just doesnt have a quality/dependability reputation that Toyota does. GM has made, and still does make some very fine vehicles though.
Of course, when you seldom ever make any changes, you are bound to perfect a design eventually.

Too bad it didn't happen with the Blazer, Sunfire/Cavalier, Astro, GMT-400's, and S-10!
