I know this maybe alil off topic, but since were talking about copy cats, heres an example. People say the Lexus LS is a copy of Mercedes Benz top of the line sedan, the S-Class... Think for a second. Take a look at both before you even speak.

1990 S-Class

1990 Lexus LS

Red face

Hate to say it, the dash of the new Camry looks a lot better than the ES.

All I can see is the steering wheel. The LS looks very very Japanese to me in design.

Mercedes used similar moonroof design on their C230(?).
the TSB on the defelector was just a precaution on Toyota's part. there was no real world evidence of the defelector cracking or breaking while driving. we do get a lot of people coming in our service dept about how someone vandalized the deflector while it was open.

in the 21 months since the tC release we've had one owner come in with a star on the deflector and all we did was patch it up to prevent it from getting bigger. of course that's natural for any forward facing glass on an automobile.

everyone copies designs from one another. just look at how the new LS and S-Class has some bangle cues in its rear quarter. all designers whether its cars, homes, furnitures get their ideas from other designers or designs.

I wish I knew how much this thing is going to cost.... I have a family member that works at a Toyota plant so I can get Toyota, Lexus, and Scion vehicles at 3% below invoice . On my 2004 Sienna which was roughly 35,500 MSRP it dropped it to only 30,000. So... I wonder how much more the ES will be than 35 grand.

An 80-foot tall mechanical flower "blooming" in Chicago?

From the Toyota Pressroom:
"The mechanical flower is part of the public launch of the all-new, fifth-generation Lexus ES 350 luxury sedan, which debuts at this year's Chicago Auto Show on February 8th, will be on display from 5 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7th."

WTF?!

This site has pics of the flower, but not the car (as of yet, anyway) : http://www.2007ES.com
