i think its a repost , if it is then this would be like the 4th or 5th repost. I posted in that forum btw. Everyone seems to like that new "Supra." Hopefully the rumors are true though because i wont believe it until Toyota announces it.

i think they pulled the Celica and the MRS for a reason this would make alot of sense especially at that kinda price point $50G's I mean they can't think the corolla and matrix XRS's are sports cars can they??

Not sure where those price quotes are coming from. If you convert the prices in that article from yen to US dollars, the price is more like $25 to start. Exactly where it should be. Why would they price it higher than the vehicle it is based off (IS350)??
Personally, I dont think they should go the v6-V8 route. Just stick with the 2.5L and the 3.5L....keep costs down, and performance with still be better than any of the competition.
Thats exactly what i was thinking. Using the v6-v8 would keep costs down, but it wont be unique like it was b4. The 3000gt was v6, and the 300zx was also v6. The only unique ones were the rx7 (rotory engine) and the supra (inline). Not only is the inline engine naturally balanced, Toyota also has experience with them. Every supra has had an inline six engine, since it was a Celica Supra i believe. In my opinion, putting a V engine in a supra would be like putting a V engine in a Porsche that normally uses a Boxer engine. I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but its just my .02.

I, for one, am a huge fan of the I6. No other powertrain drives llike it. Even Bmw is getting out of the I6 game. But, we have to face it that people (mass market) want their performance AND fuel economy. The I6 just isnt very fuel efficient. Yes, their powerband is flat as glass and nothing is smoother, but the world, especially Toyota, is looking to improve their "green" image.
The new V6 is an unbelivable engine...270+hp(depending on application) and 29+ hwy mpg!!!
I know the purists arent going to be happy, but you absolutely cannot deny the performance.
Werd. As much as I love I6 engines, the gas mileage (i.e. in 2JZ GE IS300) is as good as a 4.3 liter V8, which is quite pathetic. Every manufacturer is moving away from I6 engines.
