Wow, what great optics, Nascar ripping parts out of Waltrip's Toyota. Toyota should fire the entire team and start over, even if it means delaying the season.
Nah, everyone gets caught now and then. Johnson had his crew chief suspended last year for 4 races (can't remember what he did) but he ended up winning the championship. Kevin harvic got in trouble for using a smaller fuel cell last year too.
Even the popular dale jr has been penalized for saying "shit" on tv and for purposely spinning himself out to cause a caution.
Cheating happens in every car in every race. Some just happen to get caught.
NASCAR has been cracking down hard on this and with questions on what can and can not be done with the COT, I'd expect a lot more teams to get "in trouble" this year.

I hear what you are saying, the problem is Toyota has to be above it. They will be judged to a much higher standard than the other teams in the near term.
They needed to be clean and they blew it. (the team that is).
I was watching SPEED last night about this. It's really too bad. If for whatever reason something was intentionally placed to try to make the car faster to make up for its slowness, then toyota will never hear the end of it from all the american automakers it had tried to show up.
"We haven't fired anyone, nor do we plan on firing anyone until we know what happened," he said. "We're aggressively trying to find out what happened."
He emphasized Toyota had nothing to do with his team's actions.
"This is my fault," he said. "You can't be skeptical of Toyota. You have to look straight at me."
Waltrip started his own three-car team this season with Toyota. The Camrys have struggled with speed since January testing. The cars he fields for Dale Jarrett and David Reutimann both passed inspection. Jarrett is assured a spot in Sunday's race because he's a past series champion; Waltrip and Reutimann must race their way in Thursday.
"We feel that Michael did a more than adequate job of explaining his feelings to NASCAR, to the fans and to Toyota about what transpired. Obviously, we're disillusioned," said Toyota motorsports spokesman Les Unger. "We share in the team's disappointment. But we feel that Michael is an individual of high character, and both he and we will move forward. We wish him all the best in today's qualifying race."
Ofcourse, nobody is looking closely to any of the other cars.... This was not a surprise. I am amazed the "NASCAR fans" were able to make only one scandal in all these months...
Mikey made a come back. He led 5 laps and finished 8th in the first set of "duals."
Michael is a good restrictor plate racer. He learned a lot in his time at DEI (up until a few years ago DEI had a dominating restrictor plate package.)
If he doesn't get caught up in the "big one" he should definately get a top 15 sunday.

I managed to catch that, it was good to see. It was not so good to hear the commentators from Speed say how great it was that Waltrip qualified after "all those toyota execs looking down thier noses at NASCAR and talking about integrity"
The Hate-on for Toyota is fascinating to watch. It's going to make me a NASCAR fan this year.

I didn't get a chance to watch it on tv. I have the live leaderboard up. What happened to y and A.J. (the rookie.)? Did they get caught up in a wreck? There's no sound on the "free broadcast." Either that or I haven't figured out how to turn it on
The really funny thing is, once the COT is fully implemented in 08, its going to be really hard to tell the cars apart anyway.
I have XM, which means you can use it on a computer too... but sirrius got the nascar contract this year

Oh for the love of God grow up....yes, it's all some vast conspiracy against Toyota....
^^
Sadly... the Toyota news are all over the place....
We all know how the majority is looking for any reason to take shots at Toyota.
A) Toyota's entry into NASCAR is a high profile one....Toyota has gotten a ton of publicity up to this point. Sometimes you need to take the bad with the good, ya know?
B) Waltrip, already a big name on the circuit, was caught using jet fuel additives....that's pretty crazy! Regardless of manufacturer.

"We've got people's attention now," NASCAR competition director Robin Pemberton said Wednesday.
"NASCAR officials would not reveal what they found in Waltrip's intake manifold, but a person with knowledge of the investigation told The Associated Press it was a property contained in jet fuel. The person requested anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the details."
Nothing found is nothing new, they caught him while everyonelse ran free. Thats the name of the game, push as far as you can and hope they don't catch you. Thats the problem with the resictor plate races, if you don't try something, you can't gain anything. If the truth were know about the top 8 or ten top teams, we would probably know more about just how many tricks they actually have up their sleeves.
