Mississippi Toyota Plant

Listerines,

The Toyata folks just announced that they're coming to my hood IN A BIG WAY !

The new Highlander plant is going to be built in Union Co. Mississippi. For those
of you that do not have a clue where that is: It's on US Hwy 78 in North East Ms.
between Memphis, TN and Birmingham, AL just outside of Tupelo. 2000 needed
jobs for the area, yeah !

OWAF

My guess is that w/ 2000 positions as little as 12000 applicants will pursue! (same thing is what happened with San Antonio). Good for you and your local economy. I just hope/wish toyota SLOWS down a little bit.

Well, it was between Tupelo or Marion, Arkansas. I still think that Toyota is going to build a Hino Truck plant out in that area of Arkansas, so this is another great opportunity for Mississippi. With Toyota there and Nissan in Clinton, MS, there seems to be a resurgance of assembly plants in the Mid-South.

I would love to get into the new Toyo plants, but I live just a little too far away and I doubt they'd throw me enough money (I used to be a QA Mgr for a tier-3 supplier, so I have the QS9000 experience and such).

^^^^Awesome news; it's great to hear someone is building up their local job base. Now, I just wish Toyota could get up here to the NW. I mean, we've got the shipping yards in Portland where all the new cars arrive, but it ain't the same...

I think its great Toyota is building new plants. It will keep quality higher than if other plants have to rush to keep up with demand. If they make it as advanced as the Tundra plant, it should be good. Toyota is an American company and create American jobs. Even when people are against Toyota for not being American, these people are ignorant.
