Canada Canadian Tundra sales up a whopping 260%

Toyota Canada: Strong sales deliver best March ever

http://www.cnw.ca/fr/releases/archiv.../03/c2074.html

"The all-new Toyota Tundra full-size pick-up truck enjoyed its best
month ever, at 950 units - up 260% versus March 2006. With 1,429 units
sold so far this year, Tundra sales are also 97% ahead of the first
quarter in 2006."

______

Only about 7% of the US tundra sales, but still pretty impressive.
I guess we don't have to worry about buying american!

Wow, it's up a whole 400 units for March...such a newsworthy article. I love how articles use percentages to make a tiny increase seem like something major...Mitsubishi does the same shit when they sell five more Eclipse Spyders..."sales up 80%!!!"

A brand spanking new model having rebates is a sign of slow sales.

A high demand model normally would have mark ups.

I remember when the first EVOs hit our shores, dealers were throwing mark ups at times $10,000.

2007 Tundra come with a $1,500 rebate. Not a good sign.

Bullsh*t.

But its good news the new Silverado has a rebate on it? And GM is going to increase it this summer?

"
GM sees softer second quarter sales; plans summer incentives
NEW YORK (Reuters) -- Troy Clarke, General Motors' head of North American operations, said today he expects second-quarter sales to be softer than initially forecast due to a weaker overall industry than GM had anticipated. Speaking on the sidelines of the New York auto show, Clarke said GM was scaling back production on some cars and mid-sized SUVs to cope with softer demand. "We thought the market would be stronger," he said.

And the Tundra rebates are only on base models. You won't find them on SR5's or Limiteds.

I'll play along. My interpretation? They sold a few hundred more units than they did in March 2006. Why that would be surprising I do not know.

Not in Canada....which is what this thread is about, isn't it? But yeah, I guess almost tripling our sales for the month is pretty weak.
