Canada Toyota Canada's best month ever, GM down 18.5%

March Canadian vehicle sales flat overall: GM down 18.5%, foreigners up 10.3%

Gary Norris, Canadian Press

Published: Wednesday, April 04, 2007
TORONTO (CP) - The auto industry had a flat overall Canadian sales month in March compared with a year earlier, as swelling volumes of light trucks and offshore-badged vehicles offset sliding deliveries of passenger cars and lower totals at General Motors and Ford.
General Motors of Canada sales slumped 18.5 per cent from a year ago and Ford faded 4.7 per cent but Chrysler gained 8.7 per cent and many import nameplates posted strong increases.

NIce work by Chrysler. I like this line from GM:

"I don't like the 19 per cent, but when you dig down into the numbers the retail's where we want it to be," Comeau said."

Wow, tell that to your dealers with a straight face.

There are probably more Bimmer and Audis in Alberta than in Toronto or Vancouver.
