Putting pieces together.. AE86 rumor + corolla coupe

Im sure everyone has read about the possible new age "AE86" toyota might be busting out.. But does anyone remember the really old (2 or 3 years ago?) of what seemed to be a White camo'd Toyota with a hoodscoop-like on the hood

At first everyone speculated about a Corolla coupe, or a replacement of the Scion TC. Possibly FI (hoodscoop)

Now with the rumors of a RWD coupe (AE86) it seems the old spypics i just mentioned may be it?

I did my best to use my ninja skills to find those old spypics.. but no luck.. i was hoping for members here have it saved on their pc

Thoughts?

Possible new Toyota sports car based on the RWD IS platform. Although a convertible they should be smart like Porche (Boxster ->Cayman) and BMW (Z4) and bring out a coupe version too.

Yellow car at the bottom of the page.

a toyota rep I've had a conversation with has stated there is a good possibility of a rwd platform car coming with the celica name badge.

if the celica comes out a fwd, it'll be a bust...they need to go back to their roots; RWD celica...it was born RWD and NOT fwd...or at least go awd turbo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i believe the celica went out because they ran out of design ideas! haha comon' toyota!

That would be quite logical for a inexpensive fuel efficient mass produced RWD car based on the Lexus IS platform without having to fight a HP war. Probably based on the same platform the convertible will use too. This would leave the already mentioned flagship sportscar postion to the rumoured new Supra. Having a new AE86 corolla would not be feasible since it is a low end vehicle with little margin for profitablity.

Hopefully ASAP. I always figured at some point when IS became stagnant that would leave a RWD platform for Toyota to use off the shelf to svae on R&D to keep the price down.

especially since Dodge showed the Demon concept car with a 4 cylinder engine and 0-60 in 8 secs.

What Magazine is that Hemi3TC? Is it new? Anyway that would be nice and cool if Toyota did that. As stated above it would be very smart and logical to base the new car or possible new car on the IS platform, as well as other cars, cuts costs down quite a bit and makes the car more affordable for us consumers. Maybe, just maybe we will see it debut at the Tokoyo auto show? I remember reading numerous reports Toyota will debut some sports car at the show this year but who knows.

That thing is IMO freaking hideous, maybe by the same bunch of designers that did the new Sebring. It made the Solstice look like a bloody "goddess" by comparison.
