Bodine wins in Talladega

http://www.nascar.com/2007/news/head....ap/index.html
Quote:
Bodine, the reigning truck champion, was out front for a restart with two laps to go on the 2.66-mile oval, with Crawford and Benson close behind in a single-file line of competitors. It stayed that way until the final corner of the 94-lap race, when Crawford drove high on the steeply banked track and Benson, a former series champion, ducked below Bodine.
That's the way they drove across the finish line, with Bodine beating Crawford by 0.014 seconds -- about the length of a hood. Benson was 0.028 seconds behind the winner, with Jason Leffler, in fourth, also less than a second behind Bodine.
"We only made one change in practice to make this Toyota truck run better," said Bodine, who started from the pole. "It was awesome."
The wild race included several crashes, the biggest of which came on Lap 74 when three-time series champion Jack Sprague had his right front tire blow while he was leading. Sprague tried to slow enough to get to the pits and was bumped from behind by Benson, turning him sideways and igniting a six-truck melee.
"It's typical Talladega," Bodine said of the second truck race at the Alabama track. "The guys get racing hard and try to jockey for position at the end of the race. Somebody bumps somebody else and pretty soon everybody is crashing."
Mike Skinner, who came into the race with a three-point lead over Ron Hornaday in the championship, took advantage of Sprague's problem to jump into the lead. But Skinner had to pit during the last caution -- brought out by Mike Wallace's spin on Lap 90 -- to have his flapping hood tacked down.

Yup, I saw the finish, it was spectacular as always from Todd Bodine I felt bad for Skinner and Sprague but "that's racing" as most say it. I can't imagine NASCAR as exciting as now with Toyota's involvement

Im personally not too crazy about Stewart representing Toyota. He had experessed his displeasuring in the switch to Toyota, but I think he would whine no matter what they did.
Denny Hamlin is cool though and to be honest, as long as theres a Toyota in Victory Lane, I could care less who is driving it.
Toyota has definetly come a long way since Daytona in February.

^^ Isn't it funny how typical domestic-loving Nascar fans will cheer for a driver not a car manaufacturer (this was not the case so much in Nascar's formulative years) but now with "new" fans coming into the fold via Toyota, these folks don't care who drives the Camry into the Winner's Circle. I am among them and I find it funny how we as a stereotypical group buck the trend in Nascar fans. Tony Stewart or Tony the Tiger I don't care as long as I see Toyota win the CUP!

Very true. I used to post on a few Ford truck forums and when Mark Martin went to Ginn this year there were a lot of Ford people who stopped being Mark Martin fans just because he wasnt driving a Ford anymore.
I always did have a lot of respect for Mark Martin and as much as I despise General Motors, that doesnt change the fact that I think Mark Martin is a real class act.
What all those Ford fans dont realize is that Jack Roush wouldnt let Mark run part-time. He basically told Mark that he could either race full-time or not at all. Mark didnt want to race full-time, so he went somewhere that would allow him to race a handfull of races a year but still allowed him to have time for his family.
Im personally not much of a Michael Waltrip, Dale Jarrett, Brian Vickers, A.J Allmandinger, Jeremy Mayfield, Mike Skinner, Jack Sprauge, Ted Musgrave or Todd Bodine fan; but like I said, as long as they put a Toyota in Victory Lane, I could care less who is driving.

and all those drivers have a common goal: to win and to put Toyota on the victory lane
